Purple coneflower, this showy, North American native, begins its long blooming season as summer approaches. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil. This plant will attract birds, butterflies, and honeybees.  It provides excellent long lasting cut flowers. This clump forming herbaceous perennial dies to the ground in winter and sprouts back in spring.  A good choice for the home landscaper. Seed head is a good source of seed for birds during the winter.
